Frequently Asked Questions
Amputation presents a new way of life and many questions along with it. If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to reach out below.
What will my prosthesis look like?
Your prosthesis will be built with technology that balances functionality with natural proportions. This technology will be chosen based on your activity level. You have the option to include a lifelike, cosmetic cover that will more closely match the skin tone and shape of your natural limb. Fabric of any pattern you like may also be laminated into the socket of your prosthesis.
How long will it take to get my prosthesis?
After a physical evaluation with one of our practioners, you should receive your prosthesis in 7-10 business days thanks to our efficient, in-house fabrication lab.
How heavy will my prosthetis be?
A lower limb prosthesis will weigh about 4-6 lbs. Your prosthetis may not feel light initially, but it is signficantly lighter than the average human leg, which weights over 30 lbs. You may need to build up strength in your amputated limb before you feel comfortable with the weight of your prosthesis.
How does prosthetic care work exactly?
Prosthetic care involves an ongoing relationship between you and your provider. Initially, you will be fit with a highly customized prosthetic limb. In time you may experience changes in your residual limb for which modifcations in your prosthesis must be made. Your prosthetist will also need to replace components in your prosthesis over time due to wear and tear. Learn More >
How much will my prosthesis cost?
The out-of-pocket cost of your prosthesis is heavily dependent on your insurance coverage. Most amputees with Medicare and secondary insurance won't pay any out of pocket expenses. To find out your coverage options, request a free, virtual consutlation below.
